Bio



Tatyana Tenenbaum is a choreographer and composer whose work examines sound and movement within a shared perceptual framework.  She received dual degrees in Music Composition and Dance from Oberlin College and Conservatory of Music in 2007.  From 2007 - 2009 she was a curator at The Tank, where she hosted The Raw and the Cooked Show, a forum for interdisciplinary improvisation.  She holds active practices of Contact Improvisation and Authentic Movement, and has taught "Embodied Cognition" through CLASSCLASSCLASS, the Coalition for Hispanic Family Services, and Roulette Intermedium.


Her work has been presented by Dance Theater Workshop, Cabinet Magazine, Movement Research at the Judson Church, The Chocolate Factory THROW, Dance Conversations at The Flea, AUNTS, Chez Bushwick, Draftwork at Danspace Project, and Pieter PASD (LA), among others.  She has received funding for her work from the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts and the Brooklyn Arts Council.  She was a 2010/2011 Fresh Tracks Resident Artist at Dance Theater Workshop, and has completed residencies through DanceNOW [NYC] | Silo, and Pieter PASD.  In October she will be the first international choreographer to hold a residency through Tercera Excluido in Bogotá.   She was a participant in the 2011 International Summer Program at the Watermill Center (under the direction of Robert Wilson) and has also had the pleasure of performing with Michele Torino Hower, Brandin Steffensen, and Yoshiko Chuma and the School of Hard Knocks.
