"The Swiss Family Robinson & Other Stories" is a semi-autobiographical, semi-fantastical retelling of the classic movie. I began drawing scenes from my life about a year and a half ago. The island became a metaphor for isolation, grief, and the ingenuity that comes from coping with those things. I spent much of the last year alone in my apartment making my drawings come to life through meticulously layered animations.

What started as a multimedia performance has ended up as a 6'40'' dance animation. The drawings were meant to convey what my body could not..
. In making the animation I experimented within the possibilities and limitations of the real-time processing software Isadora. Much like the story's shipwrecked characters, I built my environment with found materials through trial and error.
