I asked Lucy and Ethan to contribute their own words to the Voice Chant. I did the same, free-associating on my own compositional structure. Ultimately, the words were detached and ripped into individual pieces, then re-arranged randomly. The result became a variant, Aerobic Voice Chant. At Michael Beharie's suggestion, we changed the accent of the rhythm slightly to create a different tempo feel. I didn't end up using this in the church basement version, but later for Fresh Tracks.
I think each verse is beautiful on its own...
the bowl, the rye, the sound of the door knob
the turning, the hand hold, the written words
the neighbors, the wood floork, the keeping up close to
the stream's bed, the walkway, the rotten log
[ethan]
the cloak, the gap, the lunch in the backpack
the earnest, the humble, the great indoors
the hermit, the leo, the birth of a century
the turban, the Heimlich, the under where
[tatyana]
the crust, the fold, the paraplegic
the nonsense, the splendor, the happy grin
the columnist, the syndicate, the wreckless and many
the furtive, the only, the little chair
the turning, the hand hold, the written words
the neighbors, the wood floork, the keeping up close to
the stream's bed, the walkway, the rotten log
[ethan]
