Contact Improvisation--what is it? A bad experience can turn us off completely, while a good experience can expand the boundaries of our skin, allowing us to explore weight, gravity, and intimacy (yes, I said it) in new ways. I have been examining properties of a fluid mass, and ways of re-organizing tone and density through muscle, skin, and bone. I am only one person, with one set of experiences, but I will share what I know... Come challenge your perception of what you can and cannot do. I am prepared to address the "fundamentals" as well as the bigger picture questions: What is this practice and how can it enrich and inform our dancing?

Invitation to Process...
Over the past few years I have been exploring how singing and movement can share a performative context.  Each time I create a piece it opens a new set of questions for me.   I wanted to create space for exploration outside of the realm of a performance project.

I will be holding two open workshop sessions at the end of September.  These workshops will be process-oriented sessions to explore the staging of group vocal work.  Please email me if you are interested in participating tatyanatenenbaum@gmail.com.  It is not crucial that you attend all three, but RSVP is required.

Wednesday, September 21 from 7-10pm at Brooklyn Art Exchange
Monday, September 26 from 7-10pm at Brazil

Embodied Cognition
Tuesdays 7-9pm, April 26, May 3 & June , 2011 at Brazil

In this class we will examine the roles of sight, hearing, sensation, and touch. We will challenge our minds and bodies to new models of "thinking." We will move a lot. We will build structures and let go of them. We will focus on the act of doing, rather than that which is being done. This is not an improvisation class. Together we will work to free ourselves from the tyranny of being interesting.
